Lighting
Lighting is a major decision when building your RV. It is not required, at least for day VFR flight, to equip your RV with lights. Airplanes without them are lighter, simpler and less expensive. For those who like the option of flying at night, or wish to make themselves more visible, Van's offers several options using AeroLEDS™ solid state lighting units. There are landing and taxi lights for wing leading edges and wingtips. Also, several different ways to mount position lights on older (flat top type) wingtips.
The RV-12 has a defined comprehensive lighting system using AeroLEDs, which includes landing, position and strobe lights.
The RV-7/7A, RV-8/8A, RV-9/9A and RV-10 kits have wingtips and rudder fairings that use the AeroLED™ wingtip lights/strobes and tail light/strobe.
We also stock spare parts (bulbs, flash tubes, etc) for the Whelen systems historically used on many RVs.
